How To Install Glass Pack Without Welding
How To Install Glass Pack Without Welding Average ratng: 10,0/10 5606reviews So, I am a total newbie at cars, and how they work. However, I am REALLY wanting a Cherry Bomb muffler purely for the sound, and they are quite affordable. Now, I understand, getting something for the sound only may make me sound like a giant douche, but I think they sound awesome! Anyway, I dont know how to install them, but if I buy it, can I go to any mechanic and ask for them to install it for me?
Also, what Cherry Bomb muffler would I need to buy in order for it to fit my car? My car is a: 2002 Volvo S60 (Not R, or T) I hope you guys can help me out, I am really excited to see, and hear my car with this new sound. It will be great!
I heard Cherry Bombs were universal. I must have heard wrong. Also, I dont know how to install these full systems, any ideas? MagnaFlow Glasspack mufflers are reversible in design and all feature straight through design for maximum flow and minimum restriction. Thrush速 Exhaust Since 1966.
I'm expecting a lot of people to say 'If you dont know what to do with it, dont get it.' If anyone is thinking about saying that, hold it back. I want it because I do, not everyone can do everything with a car. Haters gonna hate. But hey man exhaust systems are very very basic installs. If you are capable jacking up your car and know how to use a socket wrench you are able to uninstall your OEM system and installing your new system.
Cherry bombs are universal, universally unappealing. Please don't do this to your car, they sound terrible and look terrible. But yes if you insist on destroying your vehicle any exhaust shop will weld one in for you but you may be better off selling it and purchasing a civic.
That seems to be what you are in to anyway. Im just trying to get opinions dude, dont get all butt hurt. I've looked into OBX, they sound great aswell. I will those, but need a lot more money then:/ This is why I wanted Cherry Bomb. Cherry bombs are universal, universally unappealing. That seems to be what you are in to anyway. How the F!@# is he going to DESTROY his vehicle with a muffler!!?? Like he said, don't get butt hurt and don't start slamming someone because of their ideas!! I see you haven't been here that long and I don't know if you graduated from a civic forum but slamming someone for wanting to try something different isn't what this forum is about.

That being said, JetlinerX if you want to go with the Cherry Bomb muffler or glass pack then go ahead! The OBX is also a great option or you can get something custom made like I and many other guys have done. If the Cherry Bomb muffler ends up sounding like crap than chock it up as a mistake and go with the OBX. If you want to do something cheap, you can also have a muffler shop remove a resonator and weld a pipe in it's place.
Good luck and keep us updated on what you do, also post pics and video if you can because I'm interested to just see how it turns out. Not trying to hate but why not just have an exhaust shop take off your muffler, and leave ur resonator in place. That would give you the loud sound your looking for. And worst case if it's too loud or you don't like the sound get the cherry bomb.
One thing about the cherry bomb though, if you live somewhere where they lay down salt the road the red painted cherry bomb muffler will rust through quick I've seen it happen on my friends trucks. Personally I just sucked it up and went borla and paid a high ticket but I don't regret it I love my exhaust (and borlas million mile warranty). Well if you start with the cheapest, it's going to be taking out the muffler or resonator. I would say no more than $100 tops. If that doesn't work get the Cherry Bomb and have a shop weld/install that. I think if you youtube S60 muffler delete and S60 resonator delete there are a few videos that can give you an idea of the sound but then again they are turbo and will most likely sound a little different.
If you get the money to do it I too would go with a Borla straight through muffler and 2 1/4' or 2 1/2' piping from the catalytic converter back. That should give you the sound that you desire. I would say do not do the resonator delete - it produced zero sound difference on my 2.5T. From what I was told and read after the fact that removing the resonator is great if you have a custom or aftermarket exhaust kit only.
I would also advise that you take your time - read, search the forum, Google stuff, and save for the best option with in your budget. It will be worth the wait - I wasted my money on a resonator delete so don't do it. If you need to make it loud and now - take it to a muffler shop and ask them to cut out your muffler and replace it with a piece of pipe and a tip.
Keep the old muffler just in case. It will help with flow but it doesn't sound good, but that also may depend on the exact glasspack you get,and your tolerance for 4 cyl rasp. I tried the 26' Thrush glasspack resonator and it may as well have been a straight pipe. Lots of harsh, raspy 4 cyl exhaust sounds made it through even the stock muffler. It sounded like a ricer on steroids with the thrush 2 chamber muffler.and so loud I had to swap the stock muffler on the next day (daily driver). I did run a punched out stock cat for a few months before that and it didn't increase the sound much with the stock muffler, but did sound slightly annoying for daily use with the 2 chamber.
Thrush Glasspack Mufflers
Keep in mind that changing the backpressure while running the stock chip can cause loss of low and mid range torque, which is what these engines really do best. The 944MAX chip I run is tuned for a test pipe, so I did notice some slight gains when running the empty cat and the glasspack, but the higher flow 2 chamber muffler I switched to seems to make it run better than stock even with the stock cat I am currently running. The downside to a punched out cat is the weird pressure wave resonances that can get going inside the empty chamber and mess with the exhaust flow ( Good video explaination of this phenomenon here at 4:30 ). The fiberglass packing in a glasspack burns out over time, especially with the cheaper brands. The factory cat is about half cat bricks, half glasspack resonator, so between the steel mesh liners left behind that support the cat bricks in the shell and the glasspack section, the hollowed out cat does a decent job of keeping the sound under control. The 944 motor is very large for a 4 cyl, being a 2.5L, and does make lots of undesirable 4 cyl type sound that has to be quieted down. Play this vid in 720 HD mode for the best sound and you can hear some of the results of my last project.

I do need to record how it sounds with the 2 chamber and the stock cat, ans I think it is the best of all of these. Skip to the 4:00 mark to get the audio answer to your question. When I bought my 944 it had the header, test pipe, and stock catback and had the rattling that everyone talks about. So I installed some no-name dual outlet muffler that I inherited with the car and it was loud as hell.
Then I got a Thrush glass pack to put in place of the test pipe. It quieted down considerably and is tolerable now. Architect Pro 6 Crack. As far as the heat/fire, yeah it looks like it got hot down there. The paint is fried off of the last 3 inches of the glasspack. I've done about a dozen track days with it and haven't had any issues with the heat though., 03:25 PM # ( ).
